Presenter: JOAQUIN ANGUERA, Ph.D. About Dr. Anguera…he has a B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Salamanca, Spain, a Master's in Theology from the Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. and a Ph.D. in Human Behavior from Alliant International University in San Diego with a specialization in Gerontology. He was a gerontology professor at San Diego State University for 21 years before retiring in 2017. For the last 4 years he has served as a governor-appointed member of the California Commission on Aging. He worked for 30 years in various positions at Aging and Independence Services, a County Department, until he retired as a Deputy Director. He has given lectures at various national and international conferences. His main message centers around the possibilities of the human person, how we need to fight against the negative views about old age prevalent in our society and he always highlights the opportunities for growth in every stage of life, particularly in old age.

She has been practicing medicine sine 2012 and takes an individual approach to each patient's care that includes understanding their unique needs and goals. She cares for patients with Essential Tremor, Dystonia, Parkinson's disease, ataxia and rare movement disorders. She also treats a comprehensive range of headache syndromes such as migraine, cluster, tension and atypical headaches.

Presenter: MICHELLE SEXTON, N.D. (Naturopathic doctor) - Dr. Sexton is Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Anesthesia at the University of California San Diego. She earned her Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine from Bastyr University in Seattle Washington, 2008. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Washington in the Departments of Pharmacology/Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Her NIH-funded pre-doctoral and postdoctoral research on the topic of cannabinoids and their roles in neuro-inflammation and neuro-degeneration, investigated cannabis use in patients with Multiple Sclerosis and impact on inflammatory markers.

Dr. Sexton has presented her research internationally and published in peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Sexton’s clinical practice, research and teaching focus on the endocannabinoid system and potential roles for cannabis across a range of conditions and lifespan. She is a member of the International Cannabinoid Research Society, the International Association of Cannabinoid Medicine and the Society of Cannabis Clinicians. She maintains a medical practice in San Diego, CA.
