Mark F. Lew, M.D. is our group's Medical Advisor. He has been the Director of the Division of Movement Disorders at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles since 1999. In addition to that, in 1996 he became the Medical Director of the Movement Disorders Program at San Diego Rehabilitation Institute. In 2004, Dr. Lew was invited to join the Medical Advisory Board for Musicians with Dystonia. Dr. Lew received his B.A. degree in Psychology from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland in 1981.He completed his M.D. degree in 1987 and his Internship in Internal Medicine from 1987-1988 both at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. From 1988-1991 Dr. Lew did his Residency in the Dept. of Neurology at LAC+USC Medical Center in Los Angeles. He also completed his Fellowship in Movement Disorders at LAC+USC Medical Center from 1991-1992. He served as a Clinical Instructor of Neurology from 1991-1992 at USC.From 1992-1998 he was an Assistant Professor of Neurology at USC until becoming an Associate Professor of Neurology at USC in 1998 and a Professor of Neurology in 2003.

He received his Board Certification in Psychiatry and Neurology in 1993.He was chosen to be the recipient of the "Dystonia Doctor of Excellence Award" by both the San Diego & Los Angeles Dystonia Support Groups in 2000 and by those same two groups as well as the Central California group in 2003.In the year 2000 he served as the Medical Advisor/Organizer for the successful Dystonia Pacific Northwest Regional Symposium that took place at USC.Dr. Lew has been a Participating Scientist with the Parkinson Study Group since 1994.He has also been a Participating Scientist with the Dystonia Study Group since 1996.He has been on the DMRF Therapeutics Trials Subcommittee since 1998 and on the Executive Committee of the Dystonia Study Group since 1999. He has contributed to numerous publications in the field of Neurology and Movement Disorders.He also is involved in conducting clinical trials of new medications and treatments.
